Roberto Costa is an Italian sound engineer, arranger, and producer, born in 1955 in Bologna. He grew up in a family of musicians; his grandfather, Mario Cavallari, was a renowned author and publisher of songs during the fifties and sixties, working with famous singers such as Nilla Pizzi and Luciano Tajoli. Both his mother and uncle were conservatory-trained musicians who performed in public dance-halls throughout Italy. Roberto began playing the piano and guitar at the age of ten in informal bands with friends. His passion for the bass guitar emerged in his twenties when he replaced the bass player of his group who left for national service. This experience sparked a lasting love for the instrument. Alongside his musical pursuits, he developed a keen interest in the technical aspects of music, learning to use early mixers and tape recorders, which led him to a career as a sound engineer. Since 1997, Roberto has been residing in Forlì, a tranquil town in Romagna.
