Roberto Murolo was a prominent musical figure in Naples and throughout Italy during the mid to late 20th century. Born in 1912, he was the son of poet Ernesto Murolo and Lia Cavalli. From a young age, he showed a keen interest in music, particularly in singing and playing the guitar, becoming highly skilled in both. Murolo began his professional career as a member of a quartet, performing internationally from 1939 to 1946. Upon returning to Italy in 1946, he launched a solo career focused on Neapolitan music, both traditional and popular. He gained recognition as a concert artist and a beloved radio personality, known for his romantic and sentimental style. Additionally, Murolo ventured into acting, appearing in the 1953 film "The Counterfeiters," directed by Franco Rossi. Through his recordings and performances, he became a cultural ambassador for Neapolitan song, sharing it with audiences across five continents.
