Robin Duhe is a bassist and composer born in Oakland, California, into a large musical family. He began his musical journey in the third grade by learning to play the trumpet and later switched to the French horn during high school, where he performed in various orchestras and bands. A highlight of his high school experience was performing at the New York World’s Fair. Duhe eventually transitioned from wind instruments to the bass guitar after his mother gifted him a four-string guitar, which he played like a bass. After high school, Duhe performed throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and played with a group that backed various artists. While in college, he connected with members of Frankie Beverly’s Band and joined them, performing around the world for over thirty years. This band became known for its R&B sound. Duhe's musical style evolved over the years. He focused on R&B for the first thirty years of his career, but his "Do It Duhe" CD marked a shift to Smooth Jazz with R&B undertones. His subsequent CD, "Life," showcases a blend of genres, including Smooth Jazz, R&B, Funk, and Message Music. During the creation of "Life," Duhe faced a personal battle with cancer. He wrote the title track, "Life (Gets in the Way)," after his recovery, reflecting on his experiences with the illness.
