Rodion G.A was an early krautrock, hard rock, and experimental electronic group formed in 1977 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and remained active until 1983. The project began in the early 1970s with the home-recording experiments of its mastermind. During this time, numerous home recordings were created on a reel-to-reel tape recorder, with some evolving into Rodion G.A. songs. The official band was formed in 1977 with the addition of Gicu Fărcaș and Adrian Căprar. Although they could only release two songs during the Romanian communist regime, they received radio airplay, performed live, and gained recognition within the country for their unusual experimental sound. On December 12, 1982, Constantin Ivaneș (alias Sergiu Alex) announced in the Tribuna Culturală paper the forthcoming release of the first Rodion G.A. album for the summer of 1983, but it never materialized. With the advent of the internet, interest in the project and its unique sound revived, allowing Rodion G.A. to release old material on vinyl and CD. However, following the passing of its mastermind on March 27, 2021, Rodion G.A. came to an end. Today, Rodion is regarded as the "Father of Electronic Music in Romania."
