Roger Troutman was a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, born on November 29, 1951, in Hamilton, Ohio, U.S.A. He was well known for his use of the talk box and had a significant influence on early 90's west coast hip hop. Troutman received a Grammy nomination during his career. Tragically, he and his brother Larry died under mysterious and violent circumstances on April 25, 1999, in Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A. In a shocking incident, Larry Troutman shot Roger several times outside his recording studio before taking his own life a few blocks away.
