Roland Kayn was a modern composer of electronic music, born on September 3, 1933, in Reutlingen, Germany. He passed away on January 5, 2011. A student of notable figures such as Boris Blacher in Berlin, Josef Rufer, Fritz Winckel, and Oskar Sala, Kayn composed for various instruments, primarily the organ and piano. He is recognized as a pioneer of "cybernetic music," which involved programming long-format compositions on early computer systems. Despite his contributions to modern music, he remained largely unknown.
