Ronnie Boykins was an American jazz bassist born on December 17, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois. He worked regularly with the Sun Ra Arkestra from 1957 to 1974 and continued to play with the ensemble sporadically until his death on April 20, 1980, in New York City, New York.
