Ronnie Dawson was an American rockabilly and rock & roll singer, guitarist, and songwriter born on August 11, 1939, in Dallas, Texas. He was raised in Waxahachie, Texas, where his father ran a dance band that played on KRLD from 1935 to 1941. Ronnie played the French horn in his high school band and double bass at church but excelled as a guitarist, drawing inspiration from Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. His professional music career began in the late 1950s with successful singles released under various aliases, including 'The Blonde Bomber.' From 1961 to 1969, he performed with a band that frequently appeared on national television and did session work. A pivotal moment in his career occurred when he played a rockabilly tune at the end of another artist's session, which led to more recordings released under the names Snake Munroe and others. In the late 1980s, Ronnie experienced a resurgence of interest in his rockabilly music in Europe and continued to perform throughout the 1990s until his untimely death on September 30, 2003, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 64. He was married to Chris Davis in 1996 and was the son of bandleader and bassist.
