Ronnie Hazlehurst was a British trumpet player, composer, arranger, and conductor, born in Dukinfield in 1928. He joined the BBC in 1961 and became the broadcaster's Head of Light Entertainment in 1968. Throughout his career, he composed theme tunes for numerous BBC programmes and conducted the orchestra for many editions of the Eurovision Song Contest from 1974 to 1992. He passed away in St Peter Port, Guernsey, in 2007.
