Rose Maddox was an American singer, songwriter, and fiddle player, born on August 15, 1925, in Boaz, Alabama. She began her career as a singer in the 1930s before achieving success as a solo artist. In 1963, Cashbox magazine recognized her as the Top Female Country Vocalist. Maddox's musical styles encompassed hillbilly music, rockabilly, and gospel, and she was known for her flamboyant style and colorful costumes. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame Art Gallery and the Alabama State Country Music Hall of Fame. Maddox continued to perform into the 1990s, with her bluegrass album "$35 and a Dream" nominated for a Grammy award in 1996. Her final album was "The Moon Is Rising." She was also a co-owner of a label and publishing company. Rose Maddox passed away on April 15, 1998, in Ashland, Oregon.
