Roy Davis Jr. is a notable figure in the Chicago house music scene, originally born in California but moving to Chicago's south side in his childhood. He began his journey in music inspired by legendary acid-house pioneers like Phuture. As a DJ and producer, he recorded his first single, "20 Below," for the Jack Trax label. Over the years, Roy's music has evolved, leading him to describe his sound as "soul electrica," a blend of soul music and electronics. He has shifted away from the acid and wild pitch sounds he was once associated with, focusing more on a soulful style that incorporates the deep funk sound of Chicago. Roy has also worked with various labels, including Force Inc., Big Big Trax, and Power Music, and he runs Creative Limited Recordings alongside Louie Green.
