Roy Davis Jr. is a prominent figure in the Chicago house music scene. Originally born in California, he moved to Chicago's south side during his childhood. Inspired by legendary acid-house pioneers like Phuture, Roy became a DJ and began producing music, releasing his first single, "20 Below," for the Jack Trax label. He later joined a Chicago house production team and followed his mentor to New York, where he worked at Strictly Rhythm and recorded singles for Force Inc., Big Big Trax, and Power Music. Roy describes his music as "soul electrica," a blend of soul music and electronic elements. Over the years, his style has evolved as he reconnects with his spiritual roots in house music, moving away from the acid and wild pitch sounds he was once associated with. He is currently focused on a more soulful sound infused with the deep funk characteristic of Chicago. Additionally, he founded Creative Limited Recordings, which he runs alongside Louie Green.
