Roy Hargrove was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader, known for his contributions to both straight-ahead jazz and jazz fusion. Born on October 16, 1969, in Waco, Texas, he gained prominence in the 1990s and was recognized for his technical skill and unique sound. Hargrove was a member of multiple ensembles, including the Roy Hargrove Quintet and the RH Factor, and collaborated with various prominent musicians across different genres. He received several Grammy Awards throughout his career. Hargrove passed away on November 2, 2018.
