Roy Orbison was a US singer-songwriter born on April 23, 1936, in Vernon, Texas, USA. He passed away on December 7, 1988, outside Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Orbison was one of the few American artists to achieve significant success in Britain during the "beat boom" from 1963 to 1965. He made a notable comeback with the Traveling Wilburys shortly before his death at the age of 52. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 as a Performer and into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989.
