Roy Porter was an American jazz drummer born on July 30, 1923, in Walsenburg, Colorado. He moved to Los Angeles in 1944 and began performing in 1946 while based on the West Coast. Between 1948 and 1950, he led a group of 17 beboppers that included notable musicians and recorded for various labels. Throughout the following years, he remained intermittently active in music, and in the 1970s, he led the group known as the . Roy Porter passed away on January 25, 1998, in Los Angeles, USA.
