Roy Shirley, born Ainsworth Roy Rushton Shirley on July 18, 1944, was a Jamaican singer known for his influential contributions to ska, rocksteady, and reggae music. He gained recognition as one of the original members of The Uniques and is often celebrated for his song "Hold Them," which is considered by some to be the first-ever rocksteady song. Shirley's career spanned several decades until his passing in July 2008. He was also referred to as King Roy Shirley and The High Priest.
