Rubem Dantas is a Brazilian percussionist born in Salvador, Bahia, in 1954. He initially studied piano and later focused on percussion under the guidance of Vadinho do Gantois in Bahia. In 1976, he moved to Spain, where he became a prominent figure in flamenco-fusion music. Dantas has collaborated with numerous influential artists and bands, including Paco De Lucía, Guadalquivir, Jorge Pardo, Pedro Ruy Blas and his band Dolores, Camarón, and Ketama. He is recognized as a pioneer in introducing percussion to flamenco music, particularly through the use of the Peruvian drawer.
