Rude 66 is a Dutch producer who began his musical journey in the 1980s, releasing his first EP in 1994 as the second artist on his label. He is recognized as one of the early influencers of the "West Coast sound of Holland." Collaborating with his wife, who often provides vocals and vocoder elements, Rude blends Electro and Acid with Italo, Wave, and Industrial genres, creating songs that feature shady characters like dictators and serial killers. Since the mid-90s, the duo has performed live and occasionally done DJ sets at various venues, from illegal squats to large festivals worldwide. In addition to his production work, Rude is a skilled mastering engineer, specializing in vinyl mastering and restoring old tape recordings for reissues, with credits appearing under Rude 66. He also ran and curated a label in the early 2000s and occasionally uses his own label for releases.
