Ruggero Leoncavallo was an Italian opera composer born on April 23, 1857, in Naples, Italy, which was then part of the Kingdom of Two Sicilies. He passed away on August 9, 1919, in Montecatini Terme, Tuscany, Italy, at the age of 62. His most renowned work, the two-act opera "Pagliacci," premiered in 1892 and remains one of the most popular operas in the repertory, ranking as number 20 on the Operabase list of the most-performed operas worldwide.
