Russ Freeman was a bop and cool jazz pianist born on May 28, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on June 27, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Freeman collaborated with many prominent West Coast jazz musicians, including notable names in the genre. He worked with artists such as Boston in 1954, and was active in Los Angeles in 1947, as well as spending two years with another unnamed artist from 1958 to 1959. He is particularly recognized for his 1950s work alongside trumpeter and drummer. In his later career, Freeman focused primarily on session work for television and film soundtracks, as well as serving as a music director in nightclubs. He recorded again in a duet with Manne in 1982. Additionally, he was the cousin of a composer and a singer.
