Ruth Etting was an American singing star and actress born on November 23, 1896, in David City, Nebraska. She gained fame in the 1920s and 1930s, achieving over sixty hit recordings and performing in stage, radio, and film. Etting is best known for her signature songs, including "Shine On Harvest Moon," "Ten Cents a Dance," and "Love Me or Leave Me." Other popular recordings of hers include "Button Up Your Overcoat," "Mean to Me," "Exactly Like You," and "Shaking the Blues Away." She passed away on September 24, 1978, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
