Ruy Maurity (December 12, 1949 – April 1, 2022) was a Brazilian musician born in Paraíba do Sul, Rio de Janeiro. His mother was the first violinist to join the Symphony Orchestra of the Teatro Municipal, and his brother is pianist Antonio Adolfo. Self-taught in guitar, he gained recognition in 1970 by winning the Festival Universitário of Rio de Janeiro with the song "Dia Cinco," which he co-composed with Zé Jorge. That same year, he released his first LP, "Este é Rui Maurity." Maurity achieved significant success in 1971 with his hit "Serafim e Seus Filhos," featured on the LP "Em Busca do Ouro." In 1974, he released "Safra 74," which included songs used in the soundtracks of TV Globo's novelas "Escalada" and "Fogo Sobre Terra." He followed with the LPs "Nem Ouro, Nem Prata" in 1976 and "Ganga Brasil" in 1977, the latter featuring the main theme of the novela "Dona Xepa." In 1978, he recorded "Bananeira Mangará." Throughout his career, Maurity became known for his themes and regional music.
