Sadao Watanabe, born on February 1, 1933, in Tochigi Prefecture, is a renowned Japanese jazz musician known for his mastery of the alto saxophone, sopranino saxophone, and flute. As one of the pioneers of "Jap Jazz," he moved to Tokyo after graduating from high school and later relocated to Boston in 1962 to study at the Berklee College of Music. Watanabe has released over 50 albums throughout his career and is also recognized as a talented photographer, having produced six publications of his work.
