Saint Vitus is a highly influential American doom metal band formed in 1979 in Los Angeles, California. Originally named Tyrant, the band consisted of Dave Chandler (guitar, vocals), Mark Adams (bass), and Armando Acosta (drums), before adding vocalist Scott Reagers and changing their name to Saint Vitus, inspired by the Black Sabbath song "St. Vitus' Dance." The band's primary influences included Black Sabbath and Black Flag, with whom they toured during the 1980s. Under this lineup, Saint Vitus released two albums, "Saint Vitus" and "Hallow's Victim," along with an EP titled "The Walking Dead." After the EP, Reagers departed, and Scott "Wino" Weinrich, frontman of The Obsessed, joined the band. Wino recorded three studio albums ("Born Too Late," "Mournful Cries," and "V"), a live album ("Live"), and an EP ("Thirsty and Miserable") with the band before leaving in 1991 to reform The Obsessed. Following Wino's departure, Saint Vitus went on hiatus. They later recruited former Count Raven singer Christian Lindersson, who recorded one album, "C.O.D.," before Scott Reagers returned to record the band's final album, "Die Healing."
