Salty Dog is a Glam/Hair Metal band that was formed in late 1986 in Los Angeles by members Jimmi Bleacher, Scott Lane, Michael Hannon, and Khurt Maier. In the early 1980s, Lane and Maier played together in a previous band. The group released its first and only major-label album in 1990, which was self-titled and featured all original songs except for a cover of 's "Spoonful." After Lane's departure, guitarist Pete Reveen, the son of a magician, joined the band. Like many hard-rock and metal bands of the early 1990s, Salty Dog struggled to find success when the grunge-rock movement emerged in late 1991 and swept the nation in 1992. There were rumors that Salty Dog was set to have a video for their single "Come Along" aired on MTV, but due to a dispute with their A&R representative at Geffen, the video never aired, and the band was dropped shortly thereafter. The recordings for their second album were eventually released in 2018. The last known lineup of the band included Jimmi Bleacher on vocals, guitar, and harmonica; Pete Reveen on guitar and background vocals; Michael Hannon on bass and background vocals; and Khurt Maier on drums and percussion. Scott Lane, who played guitar, banjo, and provided background vocals, is listed as a past member.
