Sam & Dave was a US soul vocal duo formed in 1961 in Miami, Florida. The duo consisted of Sam Moore and Dave Prater. Initially, they experienced only minor success until they partnered with the songwriting team of Isaac Hayes and David Porter in 1965. Their most well-known hits from this period include "Hold On, I'm Coming" (1966) and "Soul Man" (1967). Sam & Dave were celebrated for their dynamic stage performances, which later inspired performers like the Blues Brothers in the late 1970s. Although they disbanded in 1971, they reunited several times throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In 1992, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Sam Moore passed away on January 10, 2025.
