Leroy Dandridge, known as Singing Sam, is one half of the musical duo Sam & Kitty, alongside Katherine Stewart, who is also known as Miss Kitty Grove. They were partners in both music and life. There has been some confusion regarding Kitty's identity, with some mistakenly believing that Edith Brown, the niece of Jack Daniels and a Chicago singer in her own right, was part of Sam & Kitty. However, the truth is that Miss Kitty Grove, alias Katherine Stewart, was the true partner of Leroy Dandridge in their musical endeavors. This misconception has persisted, but it is important to clarify that Miss Kitty Grove recorded two singles on Four Brothers under the name of Sam & Kitty, as noted in Robert Pruter's esteemed book, 'Chicago Soul.'
