Sam Ulano was a New York native born on August 12, 1920, in Manhattan, NY. He was a master drummer and teacher, recognized for his contributions to music education through the writing of hundreds of technical books and the recording of numerous educational LPs for drummers. Ulano also produced a couple of LPs aimed at children, featuring fairy tales. He passed away on January 2, 2014, in Manhattan, NY. Known as "Mr. Rhythm" among his friends, he had a son, Mark Ulano, who is a successful sound engineer and won an Academy Award for "Best Sound" for the movie "Titanic."
