Sammy Massamba is a talented guitarist, songwriter, arranger, pianist, and performer born in Brazzaville, Congo. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of afro-reggae in Congo Brazzaville and is the founder of the Star Production label and the Studio des Stars in Paris, France. In 1965, he was a member of the vocal group Les Cheveux Crépus, initiated by Jacques Loubélo. During the 1970s in Paris, Massamba collaborated with various artists in the studio and on disc. In 1978, he formed a trio with Tanawa (voice) and Pierre Moutouari, recording at the Barclay studios in Paris. Additionally, he established an Afro-folk trio with Samba Ngo (guitar, voice) and Tanawa (voice).
