Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was a British composer and conductor, born on 15 August 1875 in Holborn, London, and he passed away on 1 September 1912 in Croydon, Surrey. He should not be confused with the poet of the same name. Coleridge-Taylor, who was of mixed-race heritage, earned the nickname "African Mahler" after achieving success in his career. He is best known for his cantata trilogy, The Song of Hiawatha. Additionally, his daughter followed in his footsteps as a composer and conductor.
