Sanctuary was a heavy metal band formed in Seattle in 1985, discovered by Megadeth guitarist Dave Mustaine, who played a key role in getting them signed to CBS/Epic Records and producing their first album. The band consisted of vocalist Warrel Dane, guitarists Lenny Rutledge and Sean Blosl, bassist Jim Sheppard, and drummer Dave Budbill. After releasing their second album, Sanctuary disbanded in 1991. Following the breakup, Dane and Sheppard went on to form the band Nevermore. Jeff Loomis briefly joined Sanctuary after they lost their guitarist but the band split up two months later, leading him to also help form Nevermore with two other members of Sanctuary.
