Sandrose was a French progressive rock band formed in the early 1970s, known for their unique blend of classical symphonic music and rock. After a previous attempt as Eden Rose, the band, led by guitarist Jean-Pierre Alarcen, sought a new direction by adding vocalist Rose Podwojny, whose powerful and clear voice had impressed Alarcen during a demo. This lineup quickly developed a repertoire primarily consisting of Alarcen's compositions. Their sole album, released by Polydor in 1972, showcases a mellow progressive rock sound characterized by the ethereal tones of the mellotron, incisive guitar work, and Podwojny's vocals. Sandrose's album is regarded as one of the top five French progressive albums of all time. The band disbanded in 1973. The members included Rose Podwojny (vocals), Jean-Pierre Alarcen (guitar), Henri Garella (organ, mellotron), Christian Clairefond (bass), and Michel Jullien (drums, percussion).
