Sara McLachlan is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter born on January 28, 1968, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She is known for founding Lilith Fair, a tour that showcased female musicians in the late 1990s. McLachlan is recognized for the emotional sound of her ballads, with popular songs including "Building A Mystery," "Sweet Surrender," "Adia," "Angel," and "World On Fire." Her best-selling album to date is Surfacing, for which she has won two Grammy Awards and four Juno Awards.
