Satisfaction was a British jazz rock band active in the early 1970s, formed by trumpet player Mike Cotton, who had been leading bands since the late 1950s. The group emerged in 1970 as Cotton sought to capture the new sounds of the psychedelic revolution, bringing together former Artwoods guitarist Derek Griffiths, trombonist John Beecham, saxophonists Lem Lubin and Nick Newell, and drummer Bernie Higginson. Their sound blended jazz influences with a stronger rock and soul edge. Satisfaction signed with Decca Records in 1970, recording their sole album in Decca's studios under the production of David Hitchcock. The album received favorable reviews, and Decca subsequently released two singles in quick succession in an effort to break the band into the UK singles chart. Despite positive feedback from the British music press, both singles failed to chart, and the band disbanded shortly after the release of their album and singles. In 2014, Acid Jazz Records released "Three Ages Of Man," the group's long-lost second album, recorded in 1971 and 1972 but unreleased until then.
