Roberto Zanetti, known by his stage name Savage, was born on November 28, 1956, in Massa, Italy. He began studying piano at the age of 14 and achieved his first hit in 1978 with the band Santarosa, whose song "Souvenir" sold 200,000 copies in Italy. In 1983, he formed his own group, Taxi, alongside Zucchero "Sugar" Fornaciari, and released the single "To Miami." Zanetti adopted the alias Savage, inspired by the comic character Doc Savage, and is renowned for composing one of the most popular Italo-Disco slow tracks, "Don't Cry Tonight."
