Screaming Trees was a rock band formed in 1984 in Ellensburg, Washington, USA. They emerged as a unique voice in the Pacific Northwest "grunge" scene, characterized by their psychedelic, garage-rock, and '70s hard rock influences, which set them apart from their peers. After releasing a couple of independent albums locally, they were signed to a major label where they released three albums between 1987 and 1989. In 1990, they made the jump to Epic Records. Their debut album on Epic, "Uncle Anesthesia," was released around the same time as major label debuts from other notable bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains. However, Screaming Trees didn't achieve their first hit until their second Epic album, "Sweet Oblivion," which featured a single that appeared on the soundtrack for the movie "Singles." The band broke up in 2000, after which members continued with various solo projects. Some members were also involved in a side project along with another singer.
