Sean Burke began his journey in the music industry in 1977 with a punk band, gaining recognition for their first release, "Vertigo," which is regarded as a punk classic. After the live album "Farewell To The Roxy," Burke joined another band and recorded the single "Bombers." He then briefly collaborated with another group, recording the single "X no 1 / Do eyes ever meet?" Eventually, Burke formed a new band with a drummer from Open Sore/Tubeway Army, initially named "The Station Boys." However, due to restrictive management, they were compelled to adopt a different name. The band's association with Tubeway and the management's contractual ties led to their dropping by the record label, prompting Burke to dissolve the band and focus on a solo career. Additionally, he played guitar for another artist.
