Sebastiao Tapajos was a Brazilian jazz, samba, and choro guitarist and composer, born on April 16, 1943, in Santarém, Brazil. He studied in Portugal and Spain and was known for his collaborations with notable artists such as Hermeto Pascoal, Waldir Azevedo, Paulo Moura, Sivuca, Maurício Einhorn, Gerry Mulligan, Astor Piazzolla, Oscar Peterson, and Paquito D’Rivera. Tapajos passed away on October 2, 2021, in his hometown of Santarém due to an acute myocardial infarction.
