Second Hand was a somewhat obscure British psychedelic band that emerged in the late 1960s, showcasing progressive elements earlier than many of their contemporaries. Originally formed in the mid-1960s under a different name, the group changed their name to Second Hand after signing with Polydor Records in 1968. However, they had to rename themselves again due to another band holding the original name. The name Second Hand reflects the fact that all their instruments and gear were purchased used. The lineup consisted of Elliott on keyboards and vocals, Bob Gibbons on lead guitar, Kieran O'Connor on drums, and Nick South on bass. Chris Williams contributed as a guest musician, adding cello, flute, and saxophone. Their debut album, Reality, was released the same year, with early copies credited to The Moving Finger on the labels.
