Section 25 is a band formed in Blackpool, Lancashire in April 1978 by brothers Lawrence and Vincent Cassidy. They took their name from a provision of the Mental Health Act that allowed for compulsory detention. The group joined Factory Records and worked with producers Martin Hannett and later Bernard Sumner. Unlike many of their contemporaries, Section 25 continued to make music beyond 1982, achieving an international dance hit in 1984 with "Looking From a Hilltop." They were also pioneers of acid house music before it became widely recognized. The original lineup disbanded in 1985. The Cassidy brothers revived the band in 2006, but Larry Cassidy passed away in 2010. His daughter, Bethany, took over as the frontwoman for several years before joining Sea Fever. The band currently operates as a duo consisting of Vin Cassidy and Stephen Stringer.
