Señor Coconut is a musical project led by Uwe Schmidt, who was inspired to create it after moving from Germany to Santiago, Chile. The project revisits and reinterprets classic songs from the 70s and 80s with a distinct Latin flair. Señor Coconut is Uwe Schmidt's solo work, while Señor Coconut Y Su Conjunto, which translates to "And His Band" in Spanish, is also a project by Uwe Schmidt. Interestingly, the "band" in this case consists of an Akai MPC3000 and S6000. In later releases, Uwe incorporates real musicians playing acoustic instruments.
