Septeto Nacional is a Cuban group of son musicians originally founded in Havana in 1926. The group was established by an unnamed individual and was initially known by a different name before changing to Septeto Nacional in 1928 when a trumpet player joined. The ensemble disbanded in 1937, but they reunited for a recording session in 1940 and made a television appearance in 1954. Following the Cuban revolution of 1959, the group resumed performances and continues to play today. Their CD "Poetas del Son" was nominated for a Grammy in 2004.
