Serge Gainsbourg was a multifaceted artist born on April 2, 1928, in Paris to Jewish Russian parents. He was a poet, singer-songwriter, painter, actor, and director, passing away on March 2, 1991. Gainsbourg had notable children, including a daughter, Charlotte, and a son, Lucien Gainsbourg (aka Lulu), with his last partner, as well as two other children, Natacha (born August 8, 1964) and Paul (born April 13, 1968), with Françoise Antoinette Pancrazzi. Initially aspiring to be a painter, he made a living as a piano player in bars. Gainsbourg was cast in the musical 'Milord L'Arsouille', where he reluctantly took on a singing role, despite his self-consciousness about his appearance. He aimed to be a composer and producer rather than a performer. His early influences shaped his desire to move away from traditional 'chanson' music, exploring British and American pop instead. He wrote soundtracks for over 40 films and directed four films, including 'Je t'aime... moi non plus', 'Equateur', 'Charlotte For Ever', and 'Stan The Flasher'. His song 'Je t'aime... moi non plus' (1969) featured simulated sounds of female orgasm and was originally recorded with Brigitte Bardot, who later withdrew.
