Shamek Farrah, born Anthony Domacase in New York City, is an accomplished alto saxophone player known for his contributions to the jazz genre. He began studying the alto saxophone at the age of 12 under the guidance of Garvin Bushel. In the late 1960s, he started performing with various Latin and Latin-jazz groups in the New York area. During the mid-1970s and 1980s, a time when live loft jazz thrived in New York City, Farrah showcased his talent with his own groups and collaborated with notable jazz musicians such as Sonelius Smith, Rashid Ali, John Stubblefield, Carlos Garnett, and Walter Davis Jr. In 1972, at the age of 25, he signed with Strata-East Records, releasing his debut jazz album, "First Impressions," in 1974. His second album for the label, "Shamek Farrah/Sonelius Smith-The World Of The Children," was released in 1977. In 1979, he transitioned to RA Records, and his album "Shamek Farrah And Folks-La De La La" was released in 1980. All of these recordings have been re-released, with "First Impressions" and "The World Of The Children" reissued in 1996 by Bomba Records, and "Shamek Farrah And Folks-La De La La" re-released in 2002
