Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings are a dynamic musical group known for their vibrant blend of soul and funk. The band consists of talented musicians from various backgrounds, who gained recognition for their work on a catalog of funk 45s and LPs. Lead singer Sharon Jones, described as "A fire-breathing soul survivor, an old school R&B dynamo," captivates audiences with her powerful vocals and energetic stage presence. Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, she brings a rich musical heritage to the group. The band features a lineup of skilled musicians: Homer "Funky-Foot" Steinweiss on drums, Binky Griptite on guitar, Boogaloo Velez on congas and tambourine, Dave Guy on trumpet, Tommy 'TNT' Brenneck on guitar, Bosco Mann on bass and as the bandleader, Neal Sugarman on tenor saxophone, and Ian Hendickson-Smith on baritone saxophone. Together, they create a sound that pays homage to the roots of soul and funk music.
