**Shelley Fisher** is a US soul songwriter, singer, and producer, born in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He moved to Chicago at the age of ten and grew up on the city's West Side. Enlisting in the U.S. Air Force at sixteen, he was honorably discharged before pursuing a career in music. Fisher studied theory, composition, and vocal technique with James L. Mack and Gisela Goettling and was the featured vocalist with the Morris Ellis Orchestra. His professional career began in 1966 when he starred in Oscar Brown, Jr.'s musical “Summer In The City,” where his performance of “Elegy” (To A Plain Black Boy) led to him opening for Stevie Wonder at the original Regal Theater in Chicago. Over the years, he has shared the stage or recorded with renowned artists such as Earth, Wind & Fire, The Dells, Eartha Kitt, and B.B. King. Fisher relocated to Los Angeles in 1969, where he played piano and sang in various venues, including Frank Sinatra’s “Jilly’s.” His songwriting gained recognition with hits like “Girl, I Love You” for Garland Green and other songs for Lou Rawls, Jimmy Randolph, and The Valentine Brothers.
