Shift Work is a musical partnership comprising Mark Harris and Johnny Rivo, known for their uncompromising sound crafted in a home-built studio in North London. With a focus on mid-priced synths and low-end vintage effects, they create throbbing tracks through endless improvisation. Their work defies conventional dance and electronic norms by respecting the balance of space in musical arrangements and disregarding genre boundaries, seamlessly blending punchy techno, acidic electro, and scuzzy leftfield house. Their debut EP, Scaled To Fit, received acclaim from platforms like Resident Advisor, Juno, Bleep, and The Ransom Note, while their follow-up release, Document II, on Houndstooth, continues to showcase their mechanistic yet artful vision.
