Dame Shirley Bassey DBE, born on 8 January 1937 in Tiger Bay, Cardiff, Wales, UK, is a renowned singer celebrated for her powerful vocal talents, often regarded as a 'diva.' She gained significant recognition for performing the theme tunes for three films in the famous James Bond franchise. In acknowledgment of her contributions, she was awarded the title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by HM Queen Elizabeth II as part of the 1999/2000 New Years Honours List, announced on 31 December 1999.
