Shirley Brown is an American soul singer and songwriter, born on June 1, 1947, in West Memphis, Arkansas, and raised in Madison, Illinois. She was discovered at the age of 14 and signed to a record label during the mid-1970s. Brown achieved her biggest hit in 1974 with "Woman To Woman," which was later covered as a country hit in 1978. Throughout her career, she has recorded for several labels before settling at another label in 1989.
