Sicker Man is the solo project of Tobias Vethake, based in Berlin, Germany. His primary instrument is the electric cello, which he processes and modulates to bring his artistic visions to life. Since 2004, he has composed music for various mediums, including film, theatre, radio plays, installations, and performance art, while also releasing numerous albums through his own label, blankrecords. Sicker Man has collaborated with international artists and ensembles, exploring alternative performance spaces and diverse approaches to performance practice. His notable works include contributions to films such as V/H/S/94 and SEANCE, as well as performances at prestigious venues like Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Volkstheater Vienna, and dOCUMENTA(13). He participated in the world premiere of Alvin Lucier’s “1000 years of resonant joy” with The Ever Present Orchestra and Oren Ambarchi at Ambient Festival Cologne 2021, and has composed and produced various albums with alternative hip-hop artist Serengeti.
